beginnings
a little about us...
hi! my name is joanna, and i'm a lifelong resident of champaign, u of i alum, professional photographer, and mom of three kids. i'm a kid person. from camp counseling to babysitting to having kids (pictured above, now aged 21, 18, 15) to watching other people's little ones throughout my twenties as a young mom, to nurturing and mentoring others of all ages, i've been involved in service, care, and momming most of my life and realized there are few better ways to use my time and energy as my own nest empties little by little.
as i considered my next chapters, my youngest in high school, it was clear they've become self sufficient, amazing, hard working people, whose company i still enjoy more than ever. i've joked i might as well be an "on call mom" to other nearby college students, adulting and away from mom perhaps, but still needing guidance and support, a home cooked meal, laundry, photos of the big game, or help figuring out adulting. i was so fortunate to be raised with the care and nurturing and guidance i try to instill in my own kids.
this venture* fits my own life philosophies of the importance of teaching and nurturing children/people, quieting societal noise and chaos, encouraging compassion, community, and creativity, providing a caring, peaceful environment, and extra hands and hearts to love and care for your family and children - the village we all need, even and especially in this modern age of parenting.

momish believes in the fourth trimester, swaddling, lots of holding, rocking, soothing music, lullabies/showtunes, and peek-a-boo. we know that children are tiny, incredible sponges who demand our full attention and care. we open two to three infant spots a year and truly believe we are an extension of your family.

it is our feeling that babies need lots of mom-ing and a peaceful, nurturing environment. momish moms will cuddle, feed, change, swing, read to, and rock your little ones as you go about your day and work and life, accomplishing your tasks and goals, with the security of knowing your child is in good, safe hands.

in addition to childcare, momish provides a variety of bonus mom services, such as laundry, meal prep, and momish tasks to help compliment your busy family's needs: class treats for parties, custom valentines, craft kits, family photos, and in the future we hope to offer kiddo pick ups and light errands.
